A member of the Jubilee Brass alumni, Bob Bessant, was Promoted to Glory on July 30th.

The celebration of his life took place in the Wyndfield Community Church, Brantford, Ontario on Sunday August 2nd.

Another active member of Jubilee Brass, Lt. Colonel Merv Leach, accompanied by his wife Mary Belle officiated at the service assisted by the Brantford Corps Officers Captains Garry and Dora Keeping.

The hall was full with family members, associates and friends.

Jubilee Brass, along with band members from Brantford and Woodstock Ontario, provided the music.

The band’s contributions were,”Montreal Citadel”, one of Bob’s favorites and was requested by the family as well as the vocal “The well is deep”. They assisted with the message with a portion of the haunting melody, “I’d rather have Jesus”. This was in support of the message by Colonel Leach based on a theme “The Call of the Trumpet”

“Promoted to Glory” was played at the end of the service as the traditional SalvationArmy tribute.

The band played “Sweeping through the gates” as the casket and family exited the sanctuary.

Bob had dedicated his life to Salvation Army music. He was a most competent cornetist and vocalist.
